Get into the groove with EK Rep’s June production

To bring our 2017-2018 season to a close, East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club presents Like a Virgin, by Gordon Steel – a romp through the bubble-gum years of teenage life.

It’s the early nineties and best friends Angela and Maxine have resolved to be world-famous pop stars, like their idol, Madonna.  They recruit a keyboard player to be part of their band, write some hard-hitting, topical, sure-fire hits – according to Maxine at least – get in some hairbrush-microphone practice and, Love HeartsTM in hand, set out to find fame.  Nothing can bring them down.  Or so they think.

Meanwhile, Angela’s mother, Viv, struggles to come to terms with her marriage break-up and her daughter’s explosive lifestyle, as the play rollercoasters through hope, sex, ambition, despair and, most of all, love.

Be warned: there may not be any animals on stage, but there is a live Monkey!

‘Bursting with wit and vitality… an incredibly moving play… wonderfully life affirming’ Catherine Fellows, Scotsman.

Join Angela and Maxine on their journey at the Village Theatre, East Kilbride from Wednesday 13th to Saturday 16th June at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced £9.00 and £6.50 for concessions.  Box office numbers are 01355 248669 or 01355 261000.  Alternatively, you can book online at
