Community theatre shines as EK RepFest 2017 comes to a close

EK RepFest, hosted by East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club, has come to an end for another year, and, although there were fewer competitors than previous years, the competition was at its usual high standard.

Newcomers CK Pose rubbed shoulders with EK RepFest stalwarts such as Fintry Amateur Dramatics Society and Kirkton Players in a festival that celebrates community drama in a friendly setting.

This year’s adjudicator, Dr Paul K. Dougall, brought his lively and colourful critique to each play, and he had the unenviable job of choosing winners. But choose he did, and East Kilbride Rep is proud to announce the 2017 winners:

The Betty McAuley Trophy for Best Staging:
Accent Players, The Magic Roundabout

The East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club Trophy for Best Actress:
Jackie Smith, Fintry Amateur Dramatics Society, Bonking James Bond

The Alf Davidson Trophy for Best Actor:
Jack Boyle, Fintry Amateur Dramatics Society, The Pushcart Peddlers

The Whitemoss Trophy for 3rd Place:
Kirkton Players, Feeding the Ducks

The East Kilbride Arts Council Trophy for 2nd Place:
Fintry Amateur Dramatics Society, The Pushcart Peddlers

The John McNicol Trophy for 1st Place:
Fintry Amateur Dramatics Society, Bonking James Bond

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all the groups who took part.

Next year’s EK RepFest will take place between the 7th and 12th of May 2018.  For information regarding registering your interest in participating, keep an eye on our website and social media pages.
